Recycling in Southend-on-Sea
Recycling has never been easier! Just collect the materials listed earlier and place them in your pink or clear recycling sack. Sacks need to be placed at the edge of your property by 7.00am on the day of your collection.

We have tried to make the pink and clear sack recycling scheme as simple as possible. Here are a number of frequently asked questions that may help you.

Can I mix my recyclables together in the pink recycling sack?
Yes. All materials (except for textiles) can be mixed together in the pink sack. The clear sack is for mixed textiles only. Pink sacks are sent to a recycling facility and the materials separated at the plant by sieves, magnets and optical recognition systems.

Can I recycle polystyrene?
No. Unfortunately we are unable to recycle polystyrene. Please place polystyrene in your normal black household waste sack.

Can I recycle bottle tops?
Yes. Plastic and metal bottles tops can be recycled. Please removed them and place loose in the pink recycling sack.


Can worn and damaged clothing go into the clear textile recycling sack?
Yes. Worn and damaged clothing can be recycled but please ensure it is clean.

Can I recycle aerosol cans?
No. Whilst some aerosol cans are recyclable we cannot recycle them at the moment. Please place them in their normal black household waste sack.

Can I recycle tetra pak?
Yes. Tetra paks and drinks cartons can be recycled. Place
in the pink recycling sack.



Can I recycle bubble wrap?
Yes. Bubble wrap can be recycled. Place in the pink recycling sack.
